Composite cables at Harpers and Flexform



Specialist cable manufacturing has been developed at a new factory site located 1 mile from our HQ, at Prince Regent Road, Belfast. Minimum orders can be as low as 100 metres and on relatively short lead times. Constructions can be; pairs, triples, quads or multi-conductor lay-ups. Combining power, co-axial cores and pairs to a maximum OD of 20mm is possible.

Insulation
The core and outer jacket insulation will vary according to application. Materials such as: PVC, FEP, PTFE, Hytrel, TPE and Nylon are commonly used to fulfil particular specifications.

Screening
The groups are taped and foil or Lap screened. Alternatively a metallic tape and drain is incorporated.

Protection
Generally our facilities extend to fine wire armouring over a bedding combined with a tough outer jacket. Data cables and co-axial can be rendered with a LDPE sheath for induct applications. Low smoke halogen free sheaths can also be applied.

Identification
Cores can be coloured, striped or numbered. Outer jackets can be applied in colour of choice and printed to identify eg. gas alarm, zone or area reference colour green, printing in white.

Quality
Controlled through ISO9002 procedures which are monitored by SGS. All cable production is tested to ensure performance matches specification. Confirmation is issued with each batch of production despatched.


PTFE wire cables at Harpers and FlexformPTFE

- 190oC to +260oC

Relevant standard :
Insulation as per VDE0207, stranding as per VDE0295 class 5, nickel plated copper wire.
Core colours :
Black, red, blue, brown, white, transparent.
Performance :
For use where prolonged heat or cold resistance is required. These cables are non-flammable and resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents oil and petrol.
Bending radius :
Static 6 x cable OD.
Applications :
Ideal for wiring through small diameter tubing or chandelier arms where reduced wire size is essential and connections are subject to heat. Application in furnaces, kilns, chemical industries and very cold environments.

Performance :
For use where prolonged heat or cold resistance is required. These cables are non-flammable and resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents oil and petrol.
Bending radius :
Static 9 x cable OD.
Applications :
Owing to the minimal sheath thickness thes cables require little space, resisting chemical steam and liquids. Exhibiting long life in temperatures exceding 180o C connecting heating elements, measuring equipment, industrial components.

To BS6500 & BS6007, stranding as per VDE0282 class 5, fine tinned copper wire.
Core colours :
Black, red, blue, brown, white, green/yellow.
Performance :
For use where prolonged heat or cold resistance is required, the cable maintains its flexibility. Silicon cables are low smoke & halogen free. In extra low voltage applications, the cable can be used without a secondary protection and where there is no risk of mechanical damage. This cable can also be supplied as a multi-core 'SIHF' flexible for powering appliances where high temperatures can occurr.

As tails from Low Voltage fittings, coil end leads, internal wiring to elements and heating controls

Flexible stranded tinned copper wires insulated with silicone rubber and fiberglass, the cable will with stand wide variations in temperature and is mechanically protected by the braided fiberglass.

Lamp holder final connections, heater band and appliance high temperature wiring

Flexible multicore of silicon insulted tinned copper wire strands with silicone jacket requires mechanical protection if exposed. This soft skin cable withstands wide variation in temperature without becoming brittle or fragile. However avoid contact with oil based liquids.
